For the widely equipped high-thrust turbofan engines, the industry has always recognized aviation lubricants that meet the US military standard MIL-PRF-23699 STD as standard oil. However, with the continuous improvement of existing engines (including improvements and new research and development), STD oils will not be able to meet more requirements.
Take the su-27 and su-35 fighters as examples. Although the appearance has not changed much, the engines they use have been improving. The same is true for the US F-404 and other models.
The continuously improved engines have put forward higher requirements for the maximum operating temperature, load capacity and life of aviation lubricants. The high temperature critical point of 200℃ under the STD standard can no longer meet the requirements. These new engines need high-temperature oils such as HTS to meet them. Helicopters are more dependent on products such as AeroShell Turbine Engine Oil 555.
The application of new aviation lubricants is not only a guarantee of the ultimate performance of fighters, but also will promote their maintainability and economy.
